Renault Kwid Facelift Looks Like Its Electric Cousin

The existing since 2015, Renault Kwid is preparing its first major facelift. And how can it be better than looking like the elegant, fully electric Kwid (K-ZE) unveiled at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show? In spy tests in India, the Kwid facelift seems to contain the DRL LEDs and the big grille, which were seen for the first time on the K-ZE.

At the rear, Renault should keep the rear hatch and tail light design. The taillights, however, receive a new three-element design like the Kwid EV. A new bumper completes the list of modifications at the rear. What Renault has not changed about the Kwid facelift is the two-tone ORVM and roof spoiler. Inside, the Kwid facelift should be similar to the current version. The EV debuted with an optimized interior configuration and better quality. However, this just seems to be getting into the Kwid facelift. The fully digital instrument cluster and the 8-inch touch screen will remain the Kwid's strengths. For the powertrain, the Kwid 2019 facelift is expected to maintain gasoline engines of 0.8 liter 54PS / 72Nm and 1.0 liter at 68PS / 91Nm. However, these engines should be updated in accordance with the BSVI emission standards, which will be mandatory from April 2020. The 5-speed manual gearbox and the Easy-R AMT should be used as is. The all-electric Kwid is still a few years from its launch on the market.

Looking closer, it appears that the front bumper has been completely redesigned and receives the same settings for the headlights and the rear apron as for the EV. In fact, the Kwid will be the first subcompact in the country to have a configuration of divided headlights, as on the Tata Harrier and the next venue Hyundai. And that should really attract attention.

In 2015, the Kwid brought a fresh and bold design as well as many innovative elements in the entry segment of the hatchback. With the facelift, Renault wants to use the same formula to resume the segment of King Maruti Suzuki Alto, which received some updates last week. Expect the Kwid facelift to be introduced shortly before Christmas with a slight increase in the price of the Top Spec variant. It remains to be seen if the climber will receive the same visual treatment as the standard hatchback model.
