UN to hold 2020 ocean conference in Lisbon

United Nations, May 10 (IANS) On Thursday, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) decided to hold its high-level 2020 conference in Lisbon in early June to support the sustainable use of the oceans, Seas and Marine Resources.

United Nations 2020 to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Sustainable and Sustainable Use of Oceans, Seas and Marine Resources for Sustainable Development in Lisbon June 2 to 6 2020 ", said a resolution adopted at the 80th Plenary Session of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly.

Xinhua news agency reported. The UNGA "decided that the main theme of the conference should be" the expansion of science and innovation-based measures to achieve Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions ".

The UN General Assembly also decided that the Conference should" bring together all relevant stakeholders "and bring together the Governments, the United Nations system, intergovernmental organizations and all other stakeholders to convene the United Nations Chal evaluations and oppor related to the implementation of Objective 14 and the actions undertaken.
