When Indian folklore, faith, mythology and mystery come together, they have the potential to create a world that feels both familiar and fascinating. The Vvaan attempts exactly that. Set against the backdrop of Chhath Puja, an ancient forest, local beliefs and the mysterious legend of Van Devi, the film takes the audience on an intriguing journey where faith, superstition, family emotions and greed constantly collide.
At the heart of the story is Rishi, played by Sidharth Malhotra. A modern, rational man living in Mumbai, Rishi does not believe in the supernatural beliefs associated with his ancestral village. His wife Mamta, played by Tamannaah Bhatia, is more deeply connected to faith, traditions and emotions. Their personal struggle and the pain of not being able to have a child become an important emotional layer in their relationship. When circumstances bring them back to Devanchal, they find themselves surrounded by mysterious events and an ancient belief connected to the forest.
What makes The Vvaan interesting is that it is not merely a horror or supernatural film. Sidharth Malhotra delivers a sincere performance as Rishi. He effectively portrays a man caught between rational thinking and deeply personal emotions. His character goes through fear, confusion, love and inner conflict, and Sidharth handles these shades with confidence. His performance becomes particularly effective in the emotional and intense sequences.
Tamannaah Bhatia – The Emotional Heart of the Film

The cinematography and background score contribute significantly to the film's atmosphere. The forest is presented as mysterious, beautiful and intimidating at the same time. The Chhath Puja sequences add cultural richness and provide some of the film's most visually appealing moments.
The music complements the mood of the story, while the Chhath-based song adds an emotional and cultural dimension to the narrative.
The visual effects also show ambition. While some supernatural sequences could have been more polished, the overall visual world created by the film gives it a distinctive identity.

Deepak Kumar Mishra's direction, the performances of the entire cast, the cinematography, background score and the film's rooted cultural setting deserve appreciation.
